Comprehensive Exam
Students complete and submit, to their comprehensive committee, their examination papers which address (a) the
theoretical framing for their dissertation and (b) the review of the relevant literature that supports their proposed
dissertation research. Both papers are orally defended. In exceptional circumstances and with the student’s
examination committee’s approval, a single paper addressing both (a) and (b) may be developed.
